    Eligibility 2008-2009

All students living in the Conroe Independent School District Oak Ridge HS (ORHS), The Woodlands College Park HS (CPHS), and the Woodlands High School attendance zones who will be in the 9th grade in Conroe ISD in the coming school year and who meet qualification criteria are eligible to apply for the Academy. Move-in students for grades 10 and 11 are also invited. Students may only apply in their first year of eligibility, typically for ninth grade.

The Academy application and selection process is competitive, involving grade and behavioral review, testing, teacher evaluations, and, for selected candidates, an interview.

Qualification Criteria

The Academy graduation requirements are rigorous. Students selected must be capable of honors/pre-AP and Advanced Placement (AP) work. Grade and standardized test score qualification criteria are based on CISD guidelines for eligibility for these higher level courses.

  1. To qualify for consideration, a student must have 80 averages in junior high English and social studies, and 85 averages in junior high science and mathematics.
  2. Standardized test(s) will be given to all students who apply.
Algebra I Requirement

All students must have completed Algebra I prior to entry into the Academy. Upon nomination by their math teacher, students who are doing very well in transition math/pre-algebra (above 90) and who would be willing to complete a special summer school Algebra I course are invited to apply.
