Teacher Evaluation Forms:
Upon receipt of the student's Application Folder, the Academy will send Teacher Evaluation Forms to the five teachers indicated on the Application. If the indicated teachers are not appropriate or available, forms will be given to other teachers. A sample Teacher Evaluation is included in the Application Folder.
Parent Information and Open House:
Two Parent Information and Open House nights are scheduled in October. There will be a video about the Academy, presentations by current parents and students, an opportunity to ask questions, and a tour. Students may register and pay for their applicant testing at this time. Testing costs may be waived at parent request.
Academy Testing:
Standardized tests are given on two Saturday mornings; there also will be a writing sample component.
Applicant Interview:
It is likely that additional screening will be necessary to select students to be interviewed. This screening will be based on the application letters, grades, standardized test scores, writing sample and teacher evaluations.
Interviews will be held in the evening over several nights. Parents/guardians will be contacted regarding their indicated interview dates to set a specific time for the interview. While students are being interviewed, detailed information on Academy graduation requirements will be provided to parents.
Notification of Status and Decisions:
All students will be notified of their status in early February. We expect to invite about 65 students to join the Academy and several more will be designated alternates at that time. Invitations may be made to alternates as openings develop and they will be kept informed of their status.
Registration for Classes:
Students who accept their invitation to join the Academy will be enrolled and make their course selections for the following year in late February.
